I'm very excited to be apart of another exhibition that is right around the corner! My friend and fellow jeweler, Laura Wood, invited me to be apart of "La Noche fel Broche" at the Equinox Gallery in San Antonio, TX! I'm currently in the studio working away and hope to mail out my brooch next week!

“The inspiration for La Noche del Broche came from an idea of having one night to commemorate the brooch and its art form in a festive atmosphere where Spanish Music and Dancers would collaborate to create an atmosphere of Celebration!!! Models would be colorful and adorned with brooches celebrating the human spirit. This exhibition is an opportunity for artists to honor and celebrate the art form of the brooch. For this vision to be appropriately achieved, we would need a large collective of brooches each one expressing the multiplicity and individuality of the creative essence. Equinox Gallery serves as a meeting place to showcase Jewelry and metalwork in San Antonio. Our Mission is to exhibit and educate the community by providing a Platform for the diversity in the field of Metalsmithing.”

Hello All,

I've been busy as a bee teaching and setting up a current exhibition, "Four Play" Oct 19th-Nov 10th, currently showing in the FAB Gallery at Virgina Commonweath University. This exhibiton features three other artist besides myself, Ariel Brice, Christopher McElroy, and Emily Hermant which I have the privilage of working within the Craft and Materials Studies department at VCU.

The opening reception will be held Nov 4th 5pm-7pm at VCU in conjuction with First Fridays Art Walk, Richmond VA

The semester is underway and I'm BUSY BUSY with teaching and traveling. With weddings and the holiday season coming up...I feel like I'm pressed on time in the studio. BUT with a show coming up soon with new faculity memebers and the other fellow, Ariel Brice, its time to kick it into high gear. The show will be up mid October at the Art Department at Virginia Commonwealth University. Exact dates will be posted as soon as we get the final details figured out. For now here are a few new images of the Fruity and Juicy Necklaces I have been creating...more to come!

It feels GREAT to be working away in my new studio. (pictures to come) This weekend I set a goal to finish a small series a pieces using only a box of old disgarded costume jewelery and a few items of scrap fabric and other "craft items."

What a ride its been so far. Well, I finished up my semester long sprint at Humboldt State University teaching in the jewelry and metals department and hit the road late May towards Seattle for the SNAG (society of north american goldsmiths) Conference. It was wonderful to see all my friends and former professors while also meeting and making many new friends and connections. After the conference I once again hit the open road, but this time with my pops, T. Voegele. It took us about 4 days to make it back to wisconsin (my motherland) with only one big rain storm, a few wrong turns and a visit to some old white guys faces craved into a mountain.

When we rolled into wisco I was sick of driving, but very greatful to have a safe and fun road trip with my dad. After a week of R&R with Wisco family and friends, it was time to hit the open road. With Georgia on my mind and a few full tanks of gas I returned to Athens, GA for the remainder of the summer months. Oh Athens, I actually missed you and all of the people I left a few months ago. Through out the month of July I focused catching up with friends, my favorite athenian resturants and music. Oh and also packing up my apartment...which took weeks and a mega garage sale (thanks friends who helped!). Well, late July finally came around and It was time to OFFICALLY say good bye to Athens, GA, my home away from home, for the last 4 years and hello to Richmond, VA for the next year!

I have lots of exciting things happening here in Richmond....stay tuned...

Making comes in waves, thats for sure. At the beginning of the year I set out in my little car on a epic journey from Athens, GA to Arcata, CA where I took a short-term position in the jewelry and small metals department at Humboldt State University. Well, I made it out here and its been a whirlwind thus far. Teaching and running the department has been quite the challenge and very exciting. I've been so busy with lesson plans and grading I haven't had the time to make any work for the past couple months and its killing me! I hope to get into the studio soon though and work on a few thing that have been scratching to take shape out of my sketchbook...but while we wait for that to happen...here are a few images I have took on I-40 across the good old US of A.

Hello All! The Holiday Season is upon us and theres lots of exciting things happening in my world. First and foremost I'm finishing up my first semester as an Adjunct Professor in the Jewelry and Metals Department here at UGA. I'm very excited about my casting students up coming jewelry holiday sale. If youre in the Athens, GA area I hope you can make it this week to buy and check out some great work.

A few weeks ago I participated in the Athens Indie Craftravaganzza in downtown Athens, GA. It was a success and here are a few images from the event.

In two weeks I will be participating in the Marmalade Pottery Holiday Sale at the DOC Building in Athens, GA. Saturday December 11 and 12th 9am-5pm. There will be great work by Local potters and jewelers! Come check it out and buy some holiday gifts! (I will be there all saturday so come on by and say ciao!)

NEW earrings! Here's a few images of my current production line. I'm still experimenting with color on certain metals. The red turned out GREAT though. I'm going to make the next few pairs in sterling silver and powder coat with a cooler color. Hoping they will POP. Detail shots coming soon!

One afternoon while visiting my friend Ryan Myers, photographer/restaurant owner, he commented on how my new tattoo looked like kryptonite. Well, with much debate, I think thats going to be the new name for this faceted gem like jewelry that I'm working away on. Thanks Phatty:)

Just finished a few production line earrings. All are etched copper and are enameled. Finding are sterling silver or gold. All chain is repurposed from vintage jewelry.

I sell these earrings at Republic Salon in Athens, GA and also will be selling them at a independent hairstylist salon here in town, Hillary Bilheimer.

So today started off pretty slow...got up late...putzed (sp) around. Finally got to studio around noon. As soon as I got going, it was time to run off to a meeting. Typical, right?!

Well im back in studio and finally finished a pair of earrings I've been working on for a few weeks. They're made out of recycled materials, a costume jewelry brooch, chain, and I believe to be plastic stones. Only things that I had to construct were the settings for the stones. Easier said then done though....since i havent made a bezel in awhile! well here they finally are! enjoy! I plan on making more one of a kind pairs! So if you're interested shoot me an email!

Thought this would be a good time for me to start blogging again to document my process. Last year of graduate school, and I'm currently in full swing working on my thesis work! hopefully the momentum stays strong!!!

So, its that time of my graduate career...my 30 hour Review. No, I will not be reviewed for 30 hours...more like 2, ha. But pretty much I have four professors who ask my questions about my work and process. Then after our discussion, I leave the room and they let me continue towards my MFA or drop me. So NO pressure at all! So its crunch time and Im trying to finish up two pieces...we will see what happens!
